Hospitality Website Design Café

ABOUT THE STRAWBERRY FIELD | KENMARE, CO. KERRY WEBSITE DESIGN
The Strawberry Field is a digital modernisation of a beloved Kenmare landmark. Beyond a visual refresh, this project focused on rebuilding a broken technical foundation to restore guest trust. By migrating the site to a high-performance platform, I’ve balanced 30 years of local heritage with a sleek, contemporary user experience that mirrors the warmth of their physical café.
Despite being a legendary landmark, the cafe’s digital presence had become a liability. Modern browsers were flagging the site as "Not Secure," physically blocking potential guests with security warnings. Beyond the technical blockages, the site relied on "pinch-and-zoom" PDF menus, a friction-heavy experience for tourists navigating the Ring of Kerry on mobile devices.

I approached this project by addressing the "structural integrity" of the site before moving into the visual design.
Restoring Trust: I secured the domain with a full SSL integration, ensuring the "green padlock" is the first thing guests see. This moved the site from being blocked to being a trusted digital entrance.
Digital Hospitality: I retired the outdated PDF attachments in favour of a fully responsive, scrolling digital menu. Whether a guest is on a desktop or a phone, the browsing experience is now as seamless as sitting at a table in the cafe.
Vibrant Visuals: I modernised the layout to reflect the cozy, colourful atmosphere of the physical restaurant, creating a digital foyer that feels as warm as walking through their front door.
For a destination as iconic as The Strawberryfield Pancake Cottage, the physical experience must match the digital one. I modernised their print assets to ensure every guest interaction, from the moment they open the menu to the final bill, feels intentional. These tactile menus bridge the gap between their heritage charm and a sleek, high-performance brand identity.
A brand shouldn't stop at the URL. To keep the momentum going after a visit, I refreshed the Strawberryfield business cards with a vibrant, high-contrast palette. By aligning their offline collateral with their new upgraded site, we created a seamless loop that reinforces professional expertise and keeps the brand top-of-mind for every visitor.
The Strawberry Field's digital presence now matches their physical space.

A fresh coat of paint only works if the walls are solid. By fixing the security protocols and improving the flow of information, I transformed a technically broken site into a high-performance business tool. The Strawberry Field now has a digital shopfront that is easy for the owners to maintain and effortless for guests to use.

The best part was having all the technical side handled for us without any downtime.
So happy with the new look for our website! The re-design is fresh, fast and easy to use. The best part was having all the technical side (hosting, domain settings etc.) handled for us without any downtime. It was a stress-free experience and the site looks fantastic. It’s a huge upgrade for us. Highly recommended!
